Québec Experience Program (PEQ) 

The Programme de l'expérience Québécoise (PEQ-Quebec Experience Program) is a fast-track program for choosing skilled workers, which allows Québec graduates or future graduates and temporary foreign workers to apply for permanent residence within Quebéc after successfully completing  a period of approved studies or qualified work.

On July 22, 2020, lots of changes were made to the PEQ requirements. Transitional measures were also provided for canadidates already in Quebec when the requirements were updated.

PEQ for Québec Graduates

You must satisfy all the conditions of the PEQ when you submit your application for a Certificat de Sélection du Québec (CSQ). 

  • Intention to settle and work in Québec 

  • Have lived temporarily in Québec for the main purpose of studying and have respected the conditions of your stay

  • Have lived in Québec for at least half the time of your study program

  • Hold an eligible Québec diploma

  • Holders of a technical college diploma, a bachelor’s, a master’s or a doctorate:

    1. Full-time work experience of at least 12 months after the completion of the study program in a job at NOC level 0, A or B.

    2. Hold a full-time job at NOC level 0, A or B at the time of submission of the application  (work experience and the job do not have to be related to your study program).

    3. Work experience acquired through a full- or part-time internship as part of the program might be recognized up to a maximum of 3 months.

  • Holders of a Diploma of Vocational Studies (Diplôme d’études professionnelles: DEP), alone or with an Attestation of Vocational Specialization(Attestation de spécialisation professionnelle: ASP):  

  1.  Full-time work experience of at least 18 months after the end of the study program in a job at NOC level 0, A, B or C.

  2. Hold a full-time job at NOC level 0, A, B or C at the time of the application.

  3. Work experience at NOC level 0, A or B does not have to be related to the study program, but work experience at NOC level C must be related to the diploma obtained in Quebec. 

  4. Work experience acquired through a full- or part-time internship as part of the program might be recognized up to a maximum of 3 months.

  • Demonstrate advanced intermediate knowledge of oral French ( at least level 7)

  • Commit to providing for your needs and if applicable, those of people included in the application for permanent selection for at least 3 months

  • Be at least 18 years old, hold a valid passport and be legally in Québec at the time of application if you are submitting the application from Québec

  • Get an attestation of learning about democratic values and the Québec values (including spouse and children aged 18 or over)

You are not eligible for the PEQ if:

  • You hold a bursary with a condition requiring a return to your country (unless you have already fulfilled this condition)

  • You have started a new study program in Québec

PEQ for Temporary Workers

Candidates must meet all the requirements of the PEQ when submitting an application.

  • Intention to settle and work in Quebec.

  • Have lived and worked legally as a temporary foreign worker or as part of a youth exchange program in Quebec.

  • Hold a full-time job at NOC level 0, A or B when submitting your application.

  • Have held a full-time job at NOC level 0, A or B for at least 24 of the 36 months before the application.

  • Demonstrate advanced intermediate knowledge of oral French ( at least level 7).

  • Undertake to provide for your needs and if applicable, those of people included in the application for permanent selection for at least 3 months.

  • Be at least 18 years old and hold a valid passport;

  • Pass a Quebec values test within the prescribed deadlines (including spouse and children aged 18 or over).
